Your donation enables us to award essential scholarships to participants. All scholarships are awarded based on:
The availability of scholarship funds
Financial need using the public school free and reduced lunch guidelines
Consideration of extraordinary circumstances for the participant and his or her immediate family.
Every therapeutic riding lesson (mounted) and therapeutic horsemanship lesson (unmounted) is subsidized so that our participants are able to receive services at the lowest possible fee. The estimated cost to raise a child quadruples when the child has special needs. Your support of scholarships helps our participants and their families. Thank you for helping make dreams come true!
An overview of our scholarship funds:
Dream Rider Scholarship Fund: For participants with special needs whose family would qualify based on financial need (using the public school free and reduced lunch guidelines) and consideration of extraordinary circumstances.
Emily Pearce Scholarship Fund: Open to students with special needs who demonstrate financial need and who were introduced to Dream Catchers through a School Group. Funded by friends and family of Emily Pearce, in her honor.
The following funds have been established by generous donors and foundations to benefit our participants, but are not eligible for general donations:
Military and Military Family Fund: Open to active duty and retired service members, and their families members with special needs. Funded by anonymous donations and supported by the Ford’s Colony Ladies Golf Association.
Multiple Sclerosis Foundation: Provides a limited number of scholarships based on the awarding of a grant to people with M.S who participate in therapeutic riding at Dream Catchers. Funding is limited through grant support.
Bloomfield Fund: Open to people with special needs from age 4-35 that primarily have physical disabilities. This is a limited fund supported by the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia.
